New Delhi: Hyderabad-based deep-tech startup EON Space Labs has successfully completed thermo-vacuum (TVAC) testing of its MIRA electro optical space telescope. The testing confirms that the instrument will work as intended in the harsh conditions of outer space, and has been tested for temperature stability, vacuum tolerance as well as in-orbit reliability, meeting the stringent NASA standards. The instrument was tested at an NABL-accredited facility in Ahmedabad, and performed beyond expectations. MIRA has been developed as an electro optical payload for use on satellites, with both strategic defence and commercial space applications.

Cofounder of EON Space Labs Sanjay Kumar said, “This is a truly defining moment for us. Space grade certification proves that ultra complex, high-precision imaging platforms can now be built and certified entirely from within India”. Cofounder of EON Space Labs Punit Badeka said, “MIRA enables the highest-quality imagery at a fraction of traditional size and weight limitations. We’re not only focused on India’s self-reliance in earth observation but aim to tap the global market with MIRA.” Cofounder of EON Space Labs Manoj Kumar Gaddam said, “Our vertically integrated optical and AI-enabled stack delivers an operational payload perfectly aligned for the extreme environment of space.”

MIRA headed to orbit in December 2025

The MIRA space telescope is headed to orbit with satellite partner TakeMe2Space on board an ISRO rocket flight in December 2025. EON Space Labs have developed a number of novel technologies in-house to shrink the imaging instrument down to size. This is a pathfinder mission that will demonstrate the technology, and pave the way for a constellation in Low Earth Orbit. EON Space Labs is parallelly developing aerial imaging and reconnaissance platforms for use in drones and fixed wing aircraft. EON Space Labs is committed to vertically integrate optics for multi-domain, dual-use applications across space, aerial and ground platforms.
