Nestled on the Suffolk coast in England, you'll find a quaint town that's home to several famous faces and surrounded by a desolate landscape.

Walberswick, a Georgian village set against an untouched coastal area in the South, offers a sense of peace and tranquillity for those seeking a great escape. Its neighbouring town, Southwold, serves as a more vibrant destination for family holidays, while Walberswick provides a quieter alternative for a simple break.

The vast landscape of heaths and marshland is what attracts many to the area, with the village sitting at the mouth of the River Blyth. It boasts a sandybeach, grassy dunes, and a nature reserve that spans 1,000 acres of land.

Its distinctive meadows house a natural environment teeming with otters, deer, and a wide range of bird species for those who enjoy bird-watching. However, it's the human inhabitants of this town that pique even more interest from visitors, as it has long been a magnet for residents working in the arts, film, and media sectors.

Most recently, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran put Walberswick in the spotlight when he chose it as the filming location for one of his music videos. The Suffolk-born star's Christmas song 'Under the Tree' heavily features the seaside village, and it seems he enjoyed his time there so much he was reluctant to leave. Ed Sheeran is believed to have snapped up two properties near Walberswick, despite his main residence being in Framlingham, Suffolk.

Despite its quaint charm, a surprising number of British celebs have been drawn to the area, owning holiday homes across the villages for years. This includes Love Actually and Bridget Jones creator Richard Curtis and his family.

In fact, Curtis dedicated his Christmas novel, That Christmas, to the village of Walberswick, where he spent most of his time during the COVID-19 pandemic, enjoying coastal walks.

Joining him in this exclusive club is Kiera Knightley, who is rumoured to own a home in the village after being spotted in local pubs and shops. Reports first emerged in 2018 that she had made the move, and she's not the only actor to find solace in its picturesque coast.

David Morrissey, husband of novelist Esther Freud and brother-in-law to Richard Curtis, also spends time in Walberswick. The strong family connections to the area mean it was inevitable that the Walking Dead star would enjoy peaceful summers by the seaside.

Despite its celebrity inhabitants, the village is renowned for its crabbing and even hosts the World Open Championships each summer. Enthusiasts from far and wide descend on the village to partake in the sport of crab catching or simply to join in the fun with their bucket and net, hoping to nab a few of the crustaceans.
