Meghan Markle has attempted her best "mum joke" ahead of Thanksgiving, in her latest post on Instagram. The mother of two filmed herself seasoning a turkey in what is thought to be the kitchen of her Montecito mansion.

In the video uploaded to Meghan's personal page, the Duchess is seen preparing the turkey for the oven by stuffing the bird and applying pepper and herbs to the meat. She then grates a little citrus zest on the turkey, which sits on a large ovenproof dish.

Meghan cleverly wrote the caption: "Let the 'game' begin. Get it? #momjokes." The apt song accompanying the video was 'Turkey Chase' by Bob Dylan.

Fans have rushed to X to share their thoughts on Meghan's turkey preparations ahead of the holiday on November 27.

One criticised Meghan's methods: "It doesn't look like Meghan has cooked a turkey before. I blend my herbs with softened butter and place it between the skin and the turkey breasts. Then I rub it onto the surface of the skin."

Another said: "I've never seen such a basic and terrible turkey prep."

A third said: "Poor old Haz, his whole life he's been fed from top chefs at Buckingham Palace... now he's fed dried-up old turkey."

It comes shortly after Meghan released a trailer last week for her festive Netflix show, 'With Love, Meghan' which airs on December 3.

The Duchess posted the trailer to her Instagram just moments before Prince William and Princess Catherine were due to step out at the star-studded Royal Variety Performance.

In Meghan's Netflix trailer, she seemingly gave the audience a glimpse into how she, Harry, and their two children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, celebrate.

Describing the festive season as a time "to connect with the people we love", Meghan was also seen kissing her husband Harry.
