Manju Warrier has made a heartfelt reflection on one of the most celebrated roles Aami (Abhirami) from ' Summer in Bethlehem ', directed by Sibi Malayil .



Her revelation come at at time when the 1998 classic returning to theatres for a re-release after 27 years.



Speaking in an interview with Cokkerz Entertainment, the actress shared that she now views Aami with a deeper emotional understanding compared to the time of filming.“I didn’t understand her emotional depth completely back then.”



Manju Warrier revealed that during the original filming, she did not fully comprehend the depth of Abhirami’s inner world. She recalled that Abhirami was a woman who carried overwhelming emotional conflict, heartbreak and mental struggle within her, yet continued to remain cheerful and vibrant in the eyes of those around her.

Manju admitted that she only understands the emotional complexity of the character today. This understanding happened for the actress when she viewed the society through the lens of present day conversations around mental health.



She expressed fascination and fear when reflecting on how Abhirami managed to handle her vulnerabilities without collapsing internally.



Feels she could portray Aami in a different way todayThe 'Empuraan' actress shared that she often contemplates how differently she would approach the character today if given a chance.



With decades of life experience, personal growth, and a transformed outlook on emotional well-being, Manju Warrier believes that she could bring greater nuance and depth to Abhirami’s silence, pain and hidden strength.



Manju Warrier said that this evolution in her craft makes her feel she would now do complete justice to the character.



Meanwhile, the re-release of 'Summer in Bethlehem', featuring Manju Warrier, Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, and Kalabhavan Mani in lead roles along with Mohanlal in a notable guest appearance, is set for December 12.
