Indian customers warming up to spending on AI capabilities, says Arundhati Bhattacharya
Salesforce India, the local arm of the US-based software firm, earned revenue of ₹13,384.5 crore ($1.49 billion) for 2024-25, clocking a 47% year-on-year growth, said Arundhati Bhattacharya, the company's chairperson and chief executive for South Asia.

She told ET that more customers are warming up to spending on enhancing their artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

"The intention to spend on the right kind of tech is very much there; there isn't any lack of demand. But they are value-conscious, determining the best use case to realise the most returns on it," Bhattacharya said in a virtual interview. The California-headquartered company has its second-largest employee base in India, where it added 1,000-odd people in 2025 to take the headcount past 14,000. While the company aims to hire and train further, there will be some reshaping of the workforce in terms of the roles, as the company is focusing more on new-age roles such as AI trainers and forward-deployed engineers, said Bhattacharya.

The India revenue comprises proceeds from sales and distribution as well as the global customer support functions. Under sales and distribution, the BFSI is the largest contributor, followed by others such as auto, aviation, retail and manufacturing. The strong "inertia of rest" in the public sector, however, has led the sector to pick up slowly, Bhattacharya said.
