On Monday (November 24), fans noticed that Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana had taken down all her wedding-related posts from social media after her ceremony with music composer Palash Muchhal was postponed due to a sudden health emergency involving her father. This move has surprised fans because it happened at a time when interest around her wedding was peaking, as celebrations in Sangli had already begun and teammates were seen participating enthusiastically. However, the sudden disappearance of every ceremony-related update has raised questions among followers.

Why Smriti Mandhana, her teammates delete wedding related posts?

According to sources close to the cricketer told TOI, the decision to take down the posts came after an unexpected turn of events within the family. Smriti’s father, Shriniwas Mandhana, reportedly fell seriously unwell on Sunday (November 23) morning and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital. Around the same time, her fiancé and music composer Palash Muchhal was also admitted for treatment, though he has reportedly been discharged since. The developments led to a pause in both celebrations and social-media activity.

In addition to this, Smriti’s teammates Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil also took down the engagement announcement video from their profiles. The removal of posts by multiple members of the squad triggered concern online, even though Smriti continues to retain older personal photos with Palash on her Instagram. Fans take this as a sign that the deletion of wedding updates does not necessarily signal any rift between the couple.

Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, later addressed the situation and reportedly confirmed that the wedding scheduled for November 23 has been indefinitely put on hold. According to him, the Indian cricketer refused to proceed with the ceremony while her father remained hospitalised. Tuhin explained that the player is deeply attached to her father and wants him to recover before any celebration resumes.

He stated that the family initially hoped the situation would improve within a few hours but, when his condition worsened, they made the immediate decision to prioritise his health. He added that Mandhana was in “no frame of mind to continue with the events” given the emotional situation.

Palak Muchhal issues statement

Meanwhile, Palash’s sister and playback singer Palak Muchhal also issued a brief statement on Instagram, urging fans to remain considerate during this period. She shared that the wedding has been paused solely due to Mr. Mandhana’s health and requested that people respect the family’s privacy rather than speculate online.

Following the deletion of posts, social-media users flooded Palash’s recent uploads with comments seeking clarity and expressing worry, with many fans emphasising their hope for Smriti’s father to recover soon.

The now-halted wedding was planned as a private celebration with close relatives and select guests, including several members of India’s Women’s World Cup-winning squad. Many had already arrived in Sangli when the health emergency disrupted the schedule.

As of now, no new date has been announced for the wedding. The families are focused on Mr. Mandhana’s recovery, and celebrations are expected to resume only once he is well enough to participate. Meanwhile, fans continue to send supportive messages, hoping for good news in the coming days. Stay tuned!
