The death of veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has plunged the Indian film industry and showbiz fraternity into deep grief, with tributes pouring in from leading stars across the country.

Famous comedian and TV host Kapil Sharma shared a memorable picture with Dharmendra on social media platform X, writing: “Your departure has torn my heart apart. It feels as if I have lost my father for the second time.”

He added that the love and blessings Dharmendra had given him would “forever remain alive in my heart and memories.” Sharma further said, “Only you knew how to win someone’s heart in a moment. You will always live in our hearts.”

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty also expressed profound sorrow over Dharmendra’s passing. Sharing photographs with the late actor on Instagram, she wrote that very few people are fortunate enough to work with such extraordinary talent, but no one had a bigger heart than him.

She added, “Your talent, your grace, your beauty — these were just the beginning. The real magic lay in your humility, simplicity, and kindness, which always touched hearts.”

According to Indian media, the 89-year-old legend had been unwell for some time and was recently admitted to hospital due to severe respiratory complications. His demise has created a wave of mourning among fans and the film community.

Dharmendra’s last rites were performed at Poonam Hans Crematorium in Mumbai. His wife, actress Hema Malini, and daughter Esha Deol were present, along with several prominent industry figures, including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and others.

Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar also confirmed the actor’s passing on Instagram, saying that “the era of the mainstream cinema hero and megastar has come to an end.”
