Jhajjar (Haryana): The renewable energy ministry is making a "case by case" assessment of the green energy projects that are pending power sale agreements (PSAs) and a detailed analysis on the same is likely to come in 30-45 days, union minister of new & renewable energy Pralhad Joshi said on Monday.
Around 43.9 GW of renewable energy projects holding letter of award have not been able to sign power sale agreements as they got no takers. Many of these projects are plain solar or wind, which do not provide round the clock energy.
Distribution companies' demand has shifted to more continuous renewable power that has an element of storage to supply in non-solar and wind hours of the day.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of K2 Group's 240 tonnes per day biomass pellet plant at Rewari in Haryana, Joshi said, "I have told my officers after a recent meeting to assess this on a case by case basis."
The renewable energy ministry had earlier said the focus is now on resolving the issue of PSAs than tendering of capacities through renewable energy implementing agencies.
The ministry had also said efforts were being made to examine the feasibility of signing power purchase agreements and PSAs for certain awarded capacities and reviewing provisions such as the green shoe option. No blanket cancellations of the bids is being envisaged.
Joshi on Monday emphasised on the green energy corridor-III as part of the evacuation plan for renewable energy projects, which have been a key concern for delay in the commissioning of some of them. "Discussions on green energy corridor-III is going on. The evacuation plan is in public domain. That has to be implemented," he said.
