On Monday, a tragic collision between two private buses near Idaikal in Tenkasi district resulted in the deaths of six individuals, according to police reports. Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M. K. Stalin expressed his sorrow over the incident and instructed the district administration to ensure proper medical treatment for all the injured.




Authorities revealed that the accident occurred when the two buses collided head-on. One bus was traveling from Madurai to Senkottai, while the other was en route from Tenkasi to Kovilpatti/Shankarnkovil.




At least 50 people sustained injuries, with several in critical condition. Rescue operations were launched by police, firefighters, and local residents, utilizing multiple ambulances to transport the injured to hospitals.




Preliminary investigations indicated that the accident was caused by one bus driver's excessive speed and reckless driving.




Chief Minister Stalin took to social media platform 'X' to announce that he had contacted the district's in-charge minister, K. K. S. S. R. Ramachandran, and directed him to reach the accident site. He also ordered the district collector to visit the government hospital to ensure that the injured receive appropriate and high-quality medical care.
