The Indian team is currently playing a Test series between India and South Africa. After this, Team India will be seen playing the ODI series against South Africa. Three matches will be played in this series. Team India faced defeat in the series played by the Indian team against Australia. Now the Indian team will face the challenge of South Africa. The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa will start from 30 November 2025. BCCI has announced the 15 member squad of Team India for this series.

Shubman Gill is out due to injury and KL Rahul will lead the team. Ruturaj Gaikwad has returned to the ODI team. He has been performing well in domestic cricket for some time now and hence has been selected for the ODI series against South Africa.

Rituraj Gaikwad’s return to Team India

Rituraj Gaikwad made his ODI debut for Team India in October 2022. He then appeared in six ODIs, but his performances were unremarkable. He last played an ODI against South Africa on 19 December 2023. After that he was dropped from Team India. In the recent series against South Africa A, Rituraj scored 210 runs in three matches, including a century. This earned him a place in India’s ODI squad.

Rishabh Pant and Tilak Verma were also not part of India’s ODI squad for a long time. Now, both these players have been named in the squad. Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya are not part of the series due to injuries. This has given Pant, Tilak and Rituraj an opportunity. He will try to cement his place in Team India with a good performance.
