Solar Panel Subsidy: The common people of Maharashtra are in trouble due to rising electricity bills. Recently, the consumption of electricity has increased tremendously. Both electricity consumption and electricity rates are increasing and due to this the common man has to spend a lot on electricity bills.

In fact, to reduce rising electricity bills and promote clean energy, the state government has provided a golden opportunity to install rooftop solar. Central government and state government are implementing special schemes for this.

PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme is an ambitious scheme launched by the Center and the State under the name ‘i-SMART’, providing subsidy to consumers for installing rooftop solar systems.

Thanks to this central and state scheme, ordinary electricity consumers can now install solar panels on their rooftops by paying a nominal fee of just Rs 2,500. Meanwhile, the rest of the entire cost will be covered through grants from the government.

Who will get the benefit of this scheme?

The ‘i-SMART’ Rooftop Solar Scheme 2025 has been launched mainly for general electricity consumers in the state. It benefits households whose consumption is less than 100 units, below poverty line (BPL) households, low electricity consumption.

In this scheme, huge subsidy is being given to the beneficiaries. Under this scheme, electricity consumers get a maximum subsidy of up to 95%. Also some customers get 90% from this.

Also electricity consumers in Open and OBC category (Open/OBC) will get subsidy up to 80%. This will give customers a great opportunity to install solar systems by paying just Rs 2,500.

Interestingly, central and state portals have been integrated. Of course, now there is no need for two separate portals to apply for this scheme.

Central government’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana and state’s i-SMART portal have been integrated and applications made through one portal will be accepted at both. Now let us see the information about its application process.

How to apply on Mahadiscom portal?

First of all one has to visit Mahadiscom website. There you have to click on the link ‘Apply for Rooftop Solar’. Then enter the customer number. Then select ‘Apply’ and enter your electricity customer number. Then verify with mobile OTP.

Then verify by entering the OTP received on the registered mobile. After this the details such as name, address, billing unit etc. will automatically appear on your screen. After this you have to fill Aadhaar and PAN information. Verify OTP by entering Aadhaar number and update PAN information.
