CERT-In warns Chrome users

In Advisory CIVN-2025-0330, the Cyber Security Agency highlighted two flaws in the Windows, macOS and Linux versions of Google Chrome. These flaws are named CVE-2025-13223 and CVE-2025-13224. Also, it has been said that both these errors are very serious and due to this, users’ data may be at risk. The agency has said that these bugs can damage systems and disrupt services. According to the agency, these flaws would allow any remote attacker to run any code on an unprotected system. This is caused by a type confusion, a situation in which a piece of code tries to access a resource using a data type that does not correspond to the object’s actual type. CERT-In said that the type confusion occurred in V8, which is a critical engine for running JavaScript and WebAssembly code in Chrome. This allows a remote attacker to exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page.

Google also made it clear that it was aware that an exploit was available for CVE-2025-13223. These bugs affect Google Chrome versions prior to 142.0.7444.175/.176 for Windows, 142.0.7444.176 for Mac, and 142.0.7444.175 for Linux. The Mountain View-based tech company said that it has updated the stable channel for all operating systems and will roll out a new update in the next few days, which will fix these bugs.
