Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar attended a public event, four months after resigning from his post. In Bhopal, he released the book ‘Hum aur Yeh Vishwa’ by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideologue Manmohan Vaidya. On this occasion, he also gave a speech, in which his thoughts were presented in the form of aphorisms. Although his speech was more than half an hour long, he took it as his duty when his colleagues reminded him of the flight deadline. This shows that they consider giving speeches to be an important responsibility. Now the question is, how will his aphorisms be interpreted and will he himself ever explain them?
Dhankhar said in his speech that he got the opportunity to speak after four months, but ‘the throat is not completely open yet’. This is important because it indicates why they did not get the opportunity to speak and the circumstances that prevented them from opening up fully. He also said that ‘the country is in such an era where perception and narrative decide the truth, God forbid anyone gets trapped in the narrative’. The question arises that which narrative is being created in the country and what is actually true. Everyone will be waiting for his next speech, in which he can clarify his views further.
He said another important sentence, ‘A sleeping person can be woken up but one who is pretending to sleep cannot be woken up, the use of force is a different matter’. This sentence is also important because it shows who they were trying to awaken. After his first public speech, both the media and the opposition are now eyeing his next speech in which he can clarify his keynotes.
