New Delhi. PM Modi met 20 global leaders during the G20 Summit being held in Johannesburg. These included Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron and many big international leaders. In the third session of the summit on Sunday, Modi warned the world about misuse of AI. He said that this can cause huge loss to the world, hence all the countries should together make strong rules and regulations for this. Modi said that it is necessary to have a global compact (ie international agreement) on AK. Three things will be most important in this. Monitoring, security and transparency.
He specifically warned that the use of deepfake video-audio, AI in crime and terrorism is very dangerous. Modi said that if steps are not taken now, misuse of numbers can become a big problem for the society. Therefore, the whole world should unite and take action in time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today demanded major changes in the way critical technologies are promoted at the third session of the G-20 summit. He said such technology applications should be human-centric rather than finance-centric, global rather than national and based on open source rather than privilege-based models. He pointed out that the human-centric approach has been embedded in India’s technology ecosystem and has yielded huge benefits in space applications, artificial intelligence or digital payments, where India is leading the world.
The Prime Minister appealed for a global agreement on AI based on the principles of human oversight, safety by design and prevention of misuse. On Artificial Intelligence, the Prime Minister explained India’s approach based on equitable access, mass-level skill building and responsible deployment. He emphasized that artificial intelligence should translate into the well-being of the world.
Artificial intelligence should enhance human capabilities, but humans must make the final decisions. The Prime Minister said India will host the Artificial Intelligence Impact Conference with the theme Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaay in February 2026 and invited all G-20 countries to join it. The Prime Minister stressed that in the age of artificial intelligence, we need to rapidly shift our perspective from today’s jobs to tomorrow’s capabilities. Recalling the progress made on talent mobility at the New Delhi G-20 Summit, he proposed that the Group should create a global framework for talent mobility in the coming years. The Prime Minister concluded his remarks by reiterating India’s message and commitment to the betterment of the world. That means sustainable development, reliable trade, fair finance and progress that is inclusive for all.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Johannesburg on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit. During this, both the leaders agreed to work together to raise the voice of the Global South. The Prime Minister praised South Africa’s initiative to convene the IBSA leaders’ meeting. Recalling the historical ties that have strengthened India-South Africa relations, the two leaders reviewed mutual relations. Expressed satisfaction at the progress made in various areas of cooperation including trade and investment, food security, skills development, mining, youth exchanges and people-to-people ties. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of AI, digital public infrastructure and essential minerals. no
