New Delhi . The first match of the Ashes series was played in Perth. In this match, England also had a chance to register victory, but Travis Head, who came as an opener for Australia, played such a brilliant innings in which the England team was blown away. Travis Head scored a century in just 69 balls and 123 runs in 83 balls and led the team to victory in a match in which Australia could have found it difficult. The run chase was only 205, but looking at the pitch and conditions, it seemed that this target would not be easy for Australia, but everything pales in front of Travis Head. Travis Head has also almost ended the career of an opener.

Steve Smith has told that Travis Head helped Australia win the first Ashes Test with his tremendous century and doing so could end Usman Khawaja’s career. Scott Boland and Mitchell Starc both bowled well after lunch on the second day when Australia needed it most, tearing apart the England line-up with some poor shot selection. Usman Khawaja did not play as an opener for the Australian team which was chasing the target of 205 runs.

38 year old Usman Khawaja did not look fit in this match. In the first innings, he came to bat in the middle order. The team had to go with Jack Weatherold. Speaking to TNT Sports, Smith said that while the leaders were talking, Head took it upon himself to go to open. Smith said, “To be honest, it was one of the most amazing innings I have seen. He was amazing from the first ball. We came from the tea break and were wondering who we should open with. And Head said, ‘Oh, I think I should do this’. I said, ‘Risk your life, mate, have fun.’ We didn’t like it in the first innings that Marnus Labuschagne opened and I was batting at number three. So Travis took charge and played one of the great innings of the Ashes.”

After Travis Head’s brilliant performance, Khawaja may now be out of the next Test match in Brisbane. Khawaja was criticized for not returning to the field on time in the first innings, for which he received a time penalty. This meant that he could not come in to bat with Weatherald to open the innings. In Australia’s second innings, Khawaja remained out of the field after injuring his back once again at slip. Smith said that 38-year-old Khawaja was in a lot of pain and that was a bad thing. He may have to sit out of the next match and may not get a chance in the future.
