Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann distributed checks worth Rs 71 crore for the development of 142 villages and towns touched by the feet of Guru Sahib on the occasion of the 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Patshah Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Chief Minister described it as a symbol of reverence and respect towards Guru Sahib Ji on behalf of the Punjab Government and said that this effort is only a minor contribution in front of his great martyrdom and philosophy of life.
At the check distribution ceremony, Chief Minister Mann said that these grants will be used in the improvement of infrastructure, facilities for sangat, beautification of access roads to holy sites and other development works, so that villages and cities are equipped with modern facilities. He described it as a historic step towards better arrangements for the care and accompaniment of the holy places of Guru Sahib Ji.
In the programme, checks were handed over to sarpanches, councilors and other elected public representatives of Malwa, Doaba and Majha regions. The Chief Minister said that celebrating the martyrdom day of the ninth Guruji is a moment of pride for all of us. Remembering the sacrifices made by Guru Sahib Ji for humanity, he appealed to the people to follow his path.
The Chief Minister also appealed to participate in the special programs to be held at Sri Anandpur Sahib from 23 to 25 November. In these events, city kirtan, langar for the convenience of sangat, ambulance, digital museum and other necessary arrangements have been made. He said that the city kirtan will start from Srinagar, Faridkot, Gurdaspur and Talwandi Sabo and pass through major cities of the entire state and will conclude at Anandpur Sahib on November 22.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that from November 1 to 18, light and sound shows were organized in all the districts of Punjab, in which the life and message of Guru Sahib Ji was displayed. Large scale programs will be organized in Anandpur Sahib from 23rd to 25th November. A tent city named ‘Chak Nanaki’ has been built for the devotees in the holy city. Apart from this, drone shows, exhibitions, inter-religion conferences and special assembly sessions will be organised.
Giving information about the state level blood donation camp and large scale plantation on November 25, the Chief Minister said that these programs will play an important role in taking forward Guru Sahib Ji’s message of peace, humanity and brotherhood. He appealed to the people of the country and abroad to participate in these historical events.
