One of the most exciting players of Indian cricket, Rishabh Pant is ready to take the field once again. After almost three months of injury and rehabilitation, there is good news for the fans that Pant can soon be seen playing for Delhi in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season. He was out of cricket after suffering a leg injury in Manchester during the England tour in July.
His rehab is going on successfully at BCCI’s National Cricket Academy (NCA). According to sources, Pant has shown good progress in both wicketkeeping and batting in the nets. Although Delhi has not included him in the team for the first match of the Ranji season, which is to be played against Hyderabad, but his return is possible after getting the approval from the NCA medical team.
Entry can be made in second or third round
Sources say that Rishabh Pant can return to the field in the second round against Himachal Pradesh starting from October 25 or in the third round against Puducherry starting from November 1. These matches will not only be home matches for him, but will also be a golden opportunity for him to prove his form and fitness before the upcoming South Africa Test series.
A welcome relief for Team India
Pant’s comeback is also a welcome relief for the Indian team. The Test team has lost its wicketkeeping skills in recent months. Rishabh Pant is not only a dynamic batsman, but his confidence behind the stumps makes Team India strong. If he looks fit and in form in the Ranji Trophy, then his return for the South Africa tour is almost certain.
Fitness will be important in selection
BCCI does not want to rush Pant’s return. The selectors will keep an eye on his ease in the local circuit. If everything goes as per plan, Pant can once again become a key part of the Indian Test team.
