The UK is getting a new flight connecting Brits with a stunning and overlooked seaside city that could make for a worthy trip in 2026. Several airlines have announced new routes that will depart from the UK to Europe and beyond next year, with Brits near several airports set to be treated to brand-new destinations they couldn't access as easily before. This seaside city is often overshadowed by other coastal cities in this country, but that might soon change.
The city that will soon be connected to the UK's East Midlands Airport via Jet2 is Agadir in Morocco. Agadir is situated in the southern coastal region of Morocco, approximately 154 miles from the more popular Marrakech. While you might not have heard of Agadir, it could be a great alternative to overcrowded areas like Spain and Portugal, as locals growtired of overtourism.
Marrakech is likely the go-to destination you think of when you consider a trip to Morocco. Granted, the massive city has plenty to offer, from its action-packed bazaars, its camel rides through the desert and its stunning hotels.
However, Agadir is more relaxed and laid-back, making it perfect for a sun holiday with its expansive beaches and great weather. Agadir is home to lovely resort hotels where you can really get away from it all, while there are plenty of tourist attractions to keep you busy if you fancy being more active.
Go-to attractions in Agadir include the Hidden Atlas Mountain Valley, the Souk El Had d'Agadir market, the Crocoparc amusement park and the lively seafront promenade.
While there is a gorgeous beach here, you will also find plenty of hotels with swimming pools that are perfect for lounging by. When you are planning a trip to Agadir, it's important to consider Morocco's weather.
As it is located in North Africa, Morocco can get extremely hot. In Agador, temperatures can sometimes exceed the 40C mark. So, you might want to consider going in spring or autumn when conditions are still warm but not overly hot.
There are currently direct flights to Agadir in Morocco from London and Manchester, so the new Jet2 flight from East Midlands Airport makes it more accessible for more Brits to discover.
The East Midlands Airport to Agadir Airport isn't the only new route Jet2 announced for 2026. The budget airline will also fly tourists from East Midlands Airport to Thessaloniki and Preveza in Greece, Costa de Almeria in Spain, and Pula and Split in Croatia, all taking off in May.
The airline will also fly from Birmingham to Samos, Greece, and Rome, Italy, beginning in March, as well as from London Stansted to Mallorca and Jerez, Spain, and Samos, Greece, beginning in May.
Jet2 announced several new routes from London Gatwick Airport. It will fly passengers from there to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Tenerife, Ibiza, Majorca, Menorca, Alicante, Girona, Malaga, and Reus in Spain; Faro in Portugal; Antalya in Turkey; Corfu, Crete, Kalamata, Kefalonia, Kos, Halkidiki, Preveza, Rhodes, Skiathos, and Zante in Greece; Malta; Naples and Verona in Italy; Cyprus; Pula in Croatia; and Bulgaria, beginning in March.
