You now get Xbox-like gaming experience on Windows laptops, PCs
22 Nov 2025
Microsoft has announced the expansion of its Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) to laptops, desktops, and tablets.
The feature, which was previously available only on PC handhelds, brings a console-like user interface for navigating through game libraries using a controller.
The move comes as part of new Windows Insider Preview Builds on Dev and Beta channels for members of the Xbox Insider Program.
How to enable Xbox FSE on your PC
Activation process
To enable the Xbox Full Screen Experience on a PC, users need to hover over the Task View icon on their taskbar and select "Xbox full screen experience."
Alternatively, it can also be accessed through Game Bar > Settings or by pressing Win + F11.
However, Microsoft has warned that even if you're a Windows Insider, you may not get immediate access as the feature is "gradually rolling out" with new Windows Insider builds.
FSE requires Xbox app from Microsoft Store
App requirement
Along with the gradual rollout, Microsoft has also specified that the Xbox Full Screen Experience requires users to have the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store.
This is another step in Microsoft's plan to enhance user experience across different devices by making its gaming features more accessible.
The firm has already started rolling out FSE to all Windows-based handhelds as of yesterday.
