Aadhar card is the most used document in India. More than 140 crore people in the country have Aadhar card. From school admission to college, opening a bank account, getting subsidy or availing the benefits of any government scheme, Aadhaar is necessary everywhere.
Whether you want to buy a SIM card or make a passport, Aadhaar has become essential. Without it all this work can come to a halt. In many places, your work is done through Aadhaar OTP. But for this, your mobile number must be linked with Aadhaar.
For various facilities ranging from banking services to e-KYC, making documents or OTP verification to avail the benefits of any scheme, it is necessary to link the mobile number with Aadhaar. But many times people’s mobile number linked to Aadhaar gets switched off.
You may face problems if the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar stops working, so it is important to link a new number. How to link new number with Aadhaar? Many people think that they can update their mobile number in Aadhaar online. Let us tell you that this does not happen.
There is no online option for this. You will have to take a physical visit. For this, visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center or Update Center. There you will have to undergo biometric verification, only then the mobile number will be updated.
To update your new mobile number by visiting the Aadhaar centre, first of all take your Aadhaar card with you. There you will have to fill a form in which you will have to write the new number. Your identity is then confirmed by scanning your fingerprint or iris.
You will also have to pay charges for updating a new mobile number. Currently, a charge of Rs 50 is charged for updating the mobile number. After payment, you will be given an Update Request Number i.e. URN, through which you can later check whether your new number has been updated or not.
