Alan Shearer has downplayed the pitential impact of Benjamin Sesko's injury on Manchester United's Premier League campaign. The Slovenia striker - who was signed from RB Leipzig for a hefty £74million this summer - suffered a knee injury during United's 2-2 draw against Tottenham ahead of the November international break.

As a result, the 22-year-old missed Slovenia's final two World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Sweden. It's also estimated that he could be side-lined for up to a month.

Despite United's loss of their big-money signing, Newcastle icon Shearer doesn't believe that United manager Ruben Amorim will be overly troubled. Speaking via Betfair, Shearer said: "Benjamin Sesko's injury won't impact Man Utd too much.

"Ruben Amorim has already shown that, if you're not up to it, he won't play you. He's already made enough big decisions not to be phased by what the outside noise is.

"I don't suspect that bothers him at all. He'd love Sesko to be fit, come off the bench and have an impact, but he won't have that option."

Sesko was one of several high-profile signings at Old Trafford this summer, as Amorim attempted to revamp the squad that he inherited from Erik ten Hag last November. Other notable arrivals include Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens.

And Shearer also reckons Amorim is well-equipped in terms of squad depth to continue to thrive in the Premier League. He added: "Given how well the likes of Cunha and Mbuemo have been [doing] since joining, it's not as if Sesko's injury is a disaster. Results are improving at Man Utd."

Following a disappointing 15th-place finish in the top-flight standings last season, the United hierarchy would have expected enhanced displays from Amorim and his players after granting him substantial transfer funds this summer, alongside a complete pre-season tour to refine his squad.

Despite a patchy start to the new campaign, it seems the club's Portuguese manager has begun to hit his stride. Currently, United occupy seventh spot in the Premier League table, boasting five victories, three draws and three defeats from their opening 11 matches.

Additionally, they remain undefeated across their last five matches, due to their triumphs over Sunderland, rivals Liverpool and Brighton, plus stalemates with Nottingham Forest and Spurs. Supporters will anticipate their team picking up where they left off earlier this month, too, when Premier League football returns for the Red Devils on Monday evening.

United play host to a rejuvenated Everton outfit under David Moyes' guidance at Old Trafford next week. The club then travel to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, November 30, before a frantic fixture list commences in the run-up to the New Year.

In the coming weeks, United will be hitting the road to play against Wolves and Aston Villa in the Midlands - as well as hosting West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth at Old Trafford. They also have a Boxing Day showdown with Newcastle United to look toward.
