Couture homage to the Medici Women
The evening opened with a grand fashion showcase at the Eastern Quadrangle of Victoria Memorial Hall, centred on I Medici, Rohan Pariyar’s tribute to Renaissance Florence. The 40 handcrafted ensembles — rooted in 15th–16th century palettes and inspired by Medici women — were produced in his Kolkata atelier with over 2,400 hours of intricate embroidery. Drawing from Florentine architecture, Renaissance frescoes, Botticelli, and Da Vinci, the 45-minute performance blended fashion, music, and dance, directed by Rohan Pariyar and Kuntanil Das with choreography by Pinky Kenworthy.
