After winning everyone’s hearts with his simplicity and strong acting, Pankaj Tripathi is now going to start a new innings. He has now become a producer. But, the news is not just that. He has done something which is probably happening for the first time in India. India’s first ‘pay-per-view’ YouTube series. We all know that YouTube means ‘free video’. But Pankaj Tripathi is coming to change this thinking. He has announced his first web series ‘Lal Batti’ under his home production banner ‘Sita Films and Productions’. The biggest twist is that this series will come on YouTube, but you will have to pay to watch it. In technical language it is called TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand). This means that just as you buy a ticket and watch a movie in a cinema hall, you will have to pay a small amount to watch this series on YouTube. Why take such a big risk? Pankaj Tripathi and his wife Mridula Tripathi (who is his co-producer in this project) believe that good stories should have a value of their own. Pankaj has said something very important – “We want the audience to consider the content not just as ‘time pass’, but as the hard work of And respect the quality.” This model can open a new path for independent filmmakers, who are not able to make their place on big OTT platforms. What is special in ‘Lal Batti’? The story and direction of this series has been done by Karan Tejpal. This is a story full of suspense and emotion. Pankaj Tripathi has full faith in his audience that if the story has substance, then people will happily pay for it. This experiment can prove to be a revolutionary step in India’s digital entertainment world.
