Ronnie O'Sullivan is eager to make amends with his estranged daughter after she claimed that he was 'not fit to be a dad'. The snooker legend has three children, with his two youngest coming from his relationship with Jo Langley. His second daughter, Lily, was born in 2006 while his only son, Ronnie Jr, was born in 2007.
O'Sullivan's eldest daughter, Taylor-Ann, was born in 1996 from his two-year relationship with Sally Magnus. She is no longer in contact with her famous father, though, with the pair not speaking to each other. Five years ago, she claimed that O'Sullivan had never once bothered to see her daughter, his granddaughter, despite initially saying how excited he was to meet her.
Speaking to The Sun, Taylor-Ann said: "He might be world champion to some but he's not fit to be called 'Dad' let alone 'Grandad' as far as I'm concerned.
"Zarah-Ann will grow up never knowing who he is. He's made so many promises, but what he says and what he does are so different.
"Having a really s*** parent like you has shown me what is important in life. I have learnt from your mistakes and I know what actually matters. I am grateful for that. It's the only valuable thing you've ever given me."
O'Sullivan was quizzed on his fractured relationship with Taylor-Ann in a recent interview with The Times. He insisted that he wanted to make amends but conceded that he was unsure if they would ever be on good terms.
Asked if he thought their estrangement would be permanent, he said: "I hope not. I think I've got to make some sort of amends.
"I don't know how it's going to work out. Hopefully, at some point, it might sort itself out. Who knows? I don't know."
O'Sullivan remains close with his two youngest children and will welcome Lily to his new home in Dubai over the Christmas period.
"I see more of my daughter than I ever used to," he added. "She's quite laid-back, very chilled." Asked what his children thought of him moving to Dubai, he replied: "They just want me to be happy."
O'Sullivan is enjoying his new life in the Middle East but is not concerned about making new friends and has no plans to learn Arabic because he is not interested in talking to people.
He explained: "We're not there for a bouji sort of lifestyle. I just like the simplicity of it there. The weather is great.
"One of the beauties of not knowing the language is I don't really want to talk to everyone that I come in contact with. I know it sounds terrible but we just smile at each other, hello, and it's good."
