Seeing a bunch of hair on the pillow while combing, washing your hair or in the morning is no less than a nightmare. To deal with this problem, we use expensive oils, shampoos and what not, available in the market, but the result is often nothing special. If you too are tired of using chemical products, then perhaps now is the time to return to your roots. The solution to every hair problem is hidden in our thousands of years old Ayurvedic medicine. Ayurveda does not just treat superficially, but works to eliminate the problem by going to its root. Why does Ayurveda consider hair fall? According to Ayurveda, there are three doshas in our body – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. When any of these ‘Pitta Dosha’ increases, hair problems like hair fall, premature graying and baldness begin. There can be many reasons for increasing Pitta Dosha, such as too much stress, spicy or fried food, and increased heat in the body. Similarly, Amla is a treasure trove of Vitamin C, which strengthens the hair and keeps it black. Shikakai and Reetha act as natural cleansers, which keep the scalp healthy. Regular champi is important: Massage the head with lukewarm oil at least twice a week. This increases blood circulation in the scalp and provides nourishment to the hair roots. You can use coconut, almond or Bhringraj oil. Pay attention to your food habits: As you eat food, so will your mind (and hair too). According to Ayurveda, to keep hair healthy, one should eat food that pacifies Pitta. Include cool food items like amla, ghee, milk, green vegetables and sweet fruits in your diet. Avoid eating too much spicy, sour and fried food. So the next time you are troubled by hair fall, do not look towards the chemical bottle, but towards your kitchen and Ayurveda. It may take some time, but its effect is long lasting and effective.
