'Anti-party activities': BJP suspends ex-Union minister RK Singh
15 Nov 2025
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended former Union minister and ex-Ara MP R K Singh for "anti-party activities."
The party's Bihar unit announced the suspension on Saturday, citing continued cross-party rhetoric as a reason.
Along with Singh, BJP MLC Ashok Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal were also suspended on similar grounds.
Singh's suspension follows NDA's electoral victory in Bihar
Election aftermath
The suspensions come a day after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won a majority in Bihar.
The BJP unit said the action was necessary to maintain discipline within the organization.
Singh, who was the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, has been asked to clarify his position within a week of receiving the suspension notice.
Singh's allegations against government projects
Scam claims
Singh has been known to be vocal in his criticism and did not spare the BJP and the government.
He had alleged that a solar power project in Bihar was a ₹62,000 crore scam involving Adani.
The former Union minister had also urged voters to reject candidates with criminal records, including those fielded by the NDA.
Singh's appeal to Election Commission
Poll conduct
Before his suspension, Singh had also appealed to the Election Commission to implement the Model Code of Conduct more stringently.
He had called a recent incident a "failure" of both the poll body and local administration.
A social media post by Singh in October included several NDA candidates, such as JD(U)'s Anant Singh and BJP's Samrat Choudhary, who is also Bihar's deputy chief minister, in the list of leaders with criminal backgrounds.
