Spotify India introduces lossless audio streaming, plans start at ₹139
14 Nov 2025

Spotify has revamped its subscription offerings in India by introducing three new Premium plans.

The move gives users more options but also comes with a price hike for advanced features.

The biggest highlight of the update is the introduction of lossless audio streaming for Indian listeners through the new Premium Platinum tier.

A look at the revamped lineup
Plan details

The revamped lineup starts with Premium Lite at ₹139/month, offering ad-free listening at 160kbps audio quality but no offline downloads.

The Spotify Premium Standard plan costs ₹199 and restores offline listening while boosting audio quality to 320kbps.

The Student plan with similar benefits is now available at ₹99/month, up from the previous price of ₹69.

Premium Platinum plan brings lossless audio, AI DJ
Plan features

The most significant addition to Spotify's subscription lineup is the Premium Platinum plan, priced at ₹299/month.

Although it more than doubles the cost of the old individual plan, it brings several firsts for Indian Spotify subscribers.

Along with lossless audio streaming, Platinum users also get access to Spotify's AI DJ which curates playlists and provides song introductions and commentary.

Family sharing available for ₹299/month plan
Family support

The Premium Platinum plan also supports up to two additional household members, each with their own separate accounts.

This makes it more comparable to offerings from competing streaming platforms that offer lossless audio and family sharing.

However, it is worth noting that the dedicated Spotify Family plan with up to six accounts used to cost ₹229/month without lossless audio and new AI features.

New plans only for new users in select markets
Market reach

The new Premium plans are only available to new users in select markets, including India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE.

Existing subscribers will not be impacted by the price changes unless they choose to upgrade.

Notably, Spotify had raised prices in various regions including India just a few months ago.

The introduction of these new Premium plans also effectively translates into a price hike for users seeking advanced features like lossless audio streaming.
