Pranav Mohanlal’s latest release Day of Wrath continues to be the no.1 film at the Kerala Box Office. These are dull times in the state as the next major release is still two weeks away. There are, of course, releases almost every week but most Malayalam films are small-budgeted flicks.

The other language films that have released or are due for release are also relatively small projects. Day of Wrathwhich released on October 31, remains the no.1 choice of viewers in Kerala and has grossed Rs 32.22 crore in 11 days of theatrical run. These are excellent numbers for an A-rated film.

After a sensational opening week where it grossed more than Rs 50 crore worldwide, Day of Wrath has started to slow down but for an A-rated horror film, this is on expected lines. The lack of major releases will help the film as it remains the top choice of viewers. Day of Wrath should stay steady for another two weeks until Prithviraj’s Vilayath Buddha (November 21) and Mammootty’s Kalamkaval (November 27) hit theatres.

Night Ridersstarring Mathew Thomas in the lead role, has performed above expectations with a gross of Rs 3.87 crore from 18 days of theatrical run. While these figures are still underwhelming, they are decent when you consider the cast of the film. Thomas isn’t a genuine star yet like his peer Naslen, and this film was never expected to be a major grosser at the box office.

The other notable box office performer in Kerala is Sharafudheen’s comedy thriller The Pet Detective which has emerged a success with its slow and steady run. The film has grossed Rs 11.87 crore in 26 days and is a profitable venture for the actor who is also the producer. None of the other releases made a mark, including Baahubali: The Epic which has only mustered Rs 1.33 crore in 11 days.
