Pritam Singh Kisan, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district.

The incident occurred after he was reportedly detained by the police on the night of October 18-19 at his petrol pump.

Kisan claimed he had to fire in self-defense when miscreants attacked his staff, but despite calling local police and the emergency helpline 112 for help, no one came to his aid.

Detention details

A police team of around 25 personnel reached the spot later. However, instead of taking action against the miscreants, they allegedly detained Kisan and seized his licensed rifle.

He was taken to the police station that night and has since been missing. His family alleges that he has been in illegal custody since October 19.

The next morning, both parties were allegedly brought to the police station, where a compromise was reached through mediation.

After this, Kisan was reportedly released to his family, with some people dropping him home in a car.

He was later seen meeting acquaintances on October 21 and 23 before going missing again, India Today reported.

Search efforts

The police started tracking Kisan's mobile phone, which was last traced near his residence next to the petrol pump.

A search operation was conducted under the supervision of a gazetted officer and an administrative magistrate, but failed to locate him.

A habeas corpus petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court on October 27 seeking Kisan's production before the court.
