Sardar Patel's 150th Birth Anniversary: ​​National Unity Day is celebrated in India on 31 October. This day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the country's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year's program is very special because it is the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. On this occasion, a grand ceremony is being organized at the Statue of Unity, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate.

More than 900 artists will perform

After independence in 1947, Sardar Patel united more than 560 princely states of the country and created one India. Because of his contribution he is called the Iron Man. This time his 150th birth anniversary will be celebrated with special programs near the 182 meter high Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. During this period there will be cultural parades, tableaux of different states and performances by more than 900 artists.

Flagged off 25 new electric buses

On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday flagged off 25 new electric buses from the Statue of Unity located in Kevadia in Narmada district of Gujarat. Now a total of 55 e-buses will run in Ekta Nagar. With the introduction of these buses, tourists will get the facility of free and comfortable travel throughout the region. The new e-buses are air-conditioned and can run up to 180 kilometers on a single charge. In these, the facility of hydraulic lift has been provided for the disabled passengers so that they can climb up and down with great comfort and ease. Besides, four seats have also been reserved for women.

Apart from this, PM Modi also released a commemorative coin of ₹150 and a postage stamp to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. A day before the birth anniversary celebrations, PM Modi met Sardar Patel's family in Kevadiya and wrote on Instagram, "Met the family of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Kevadiya, it was a special experience."
