Arne Slot and assistant Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be desperate to arrest Liverpool's dismal recent run, but also conscious that they have a chance to rest key players as the Reds take on Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. They will be aware that anything less than a strong performance will put Palace in position to beat them for a second time this season, after winning the Community Shield in August.

Slot will be pondering over the inclusion of his key players such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, both of whom have faced criticism in recent weeks. There is an opportunity for some promising youngsters to get valuable playing time at Selhurst Park also. Here, Express Sport takes a look at Liverpool's potential lineups.

Archie Griggs

Liverpool desperately need to restore that winning feeling and the Reds would benefit from going stronger than usual here.

That said, it will also be a chance for Arne Slot to rotate his injury-hit squad and rest some key men. It's a difficult balance to get right.

The likes of Freddie Woodman and Trey Nyoni could be called upon if Liverpool go with a mixture of fringe players, young talent and established stars.

Florian Wirtz could reap the rewards of a strong display after his difficult start to life on Merseyside and will be raring to break his goal drought against Palace.

Liverpool XI: Woodman; Bradley, Gomez, Konate, Robertson; Nyoni, Mac Allister; Chiesa, Wirtz, Ngumoha; Ekitike.

Jack McEachen

Forget rotating, Liverpool need to go as strong as possible. Your best and most senior players will be the ones to turn their horrid form around and the Reds are just three wins away from the Carabao Cup final. With the title slipping away, perhaps more focus should turn to the domestic cups.

Slot needs to go back to as close to the tried-and-tested team of last season, a classic 4-3-3 with a back four that have starred in the glory years, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister alongside a strong holder in Wataru Endo, in place of the doubtful Ryan Gravenberch.

Of course Mohamed Salah plays. Cody Gakpo can count himself unfortunate to miss out, but Florian Wirtz has shown some flashes of being a £115million player recently and deserves another chance to shine.

Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Ekitike, Wirtz.

Tom Parsons

Liverpool desperately need to arrest their slide, and the Carabao Cup might offer Arne Slot his best shot at winning silverware this season.

The Reds boss should make a few changes to freshen his side up - but he must call upon his big-hitters to avoid an upset.

Salah should be given another opportunity to prove that he still has the credentials to be the main man for Merseyside team, while Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike can hurt the Eagles.

And Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa could all come into the side.

Liverpool XI: Mamardashvili, Szoboszlai, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Wirtz, Ekitike, Chiesa
