New Delhi – The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Friday took an important step to increase transparency regarding the availability of ‘Local Monthly Pass’ and ‘Annual Pass’. Under this, detailed information about these passes will be displayed at all toll plazas.
NHAI said in a statement that the decision has been taken with the aim of increasing awareness among users, so that they can get correct information about the availability, rates and procedures of local monthly passes and annual passes. This information will be displayed through signage boards at toll plaza entrances, customer service areas and other prominent locations. These boards will be in English, Hindi and local languages. NHAI has directed its regional offices to install these boards within 30 days and ensure that these are clearly visible day and night.
Additionally, this information will also be available on the ‘RajmargYatra’ mobile application and respective project websites of NHAI. NHAI informed that highway users can avail various concessional passes, which are available to make travel easy and affordable. These include the ‘Local Monthly Pass’, which is for commuters who live within a 20 km radius of the toll plaza. The documents required for this pass include Aadhar card, vehicle registration certificate and proof of residential address, all of which are listed at the toll plaza. Monthly pass fee will be released at the Plaza Helpdesk after verification of documents.
Similarly, ‘Annual Pass’ facility is available only for private vehicles like car/jeep/van with validity of one year or Rs.200 per plaza crossing. This annual pass can be purchased through the ‘RajmargYatra App’ and gets activated digitally on a valid FASTag attached to the vehicle after paying a one-time fee of Rs 3,000. The pass is valid at approximately 1,150 fee plazas on national highways and expressways across the country.
