IND vs AUS 2nd ODI: The second match of the ODI series between India and Australia is being played in Adelaide, where Indian captain Rohit Sharma displayed calm and responsible batting. During his innings, Rohit not only gave a steady start to the team, but also made a record in his name which gave him a special place in the history of Indian cricket. In this match, Rohit Sharma achieved a big feat on Australian soil, which no Indian batsman had been able to do till now.

Big record registered in the name of Australia Rohit

As soon as Rohit Sharma added two runs to his account in Adelaide, a historic record was registered in his name. Rohit has now become the first Indian batsman to complete 1000 ODI runs against Australia in Australia. This achievement is a testament to the continuity of his career and his brilliant performances on overseas pitches. By achieving this milestone, Rohit created a new line in Indian cricket.

With this, Rohit has become only the fifth player in the world to score more than 1000 ODI runs against Australia in Australia. Before him, great West Indies batsmen Viv Richards and Desmond Haynes, and Sri Lankan legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene were included in this list. Now Rohit has made a place in the line of these great players.

Left Sourav Ganguly also behind

Rohit Sharma made another big achievement in this match. As soon as he completed one run, he went ahead of former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly as an opening batsman in ODI cricket. Ganguly had scored 9146 runs as an opener, while Rohit has now crossed this figure. With this achievement, Rohit has now moved higher in the list of most successful ODI openers. Currently, only Adam Gilchrist, Chris Gayle, Sanath Jayasuriya and Sachin Tendulkar are ahead of him — meaning Rohit has now established himself as the most successful face of Indian opening after Sachin.

Had a disappointing start in Perth

Before shining in Adelaide, Perth ODI was memorable for Rohit Sharma, but proved to be disappointing in terms of performance. He was out after scoring 8 runs. However, the importance of that match was increased by the fact that it was the 500th international match of his career. Rohit became only the fifth cricketer from India to do so. Before him, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli have achieved this position.
