Looking for the perfect Jaipur viewpoints or the best spots to catch a sunset in the Pink City? Here’s my guide to the 7 top sunset points in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Jaipur is undoubtedly one of India’s most mesmerizing travel destinations. On my visit, I was spellbound by the grandeur of its forts and the opulence of its palaces.
After a day spent wandering through Jaipur’s vibrant bazaars, iconic pink streets, and historic gateways, I found myself craving a peaceful spot to relax and watch the sun dip below the city.
In this guide, I’ve rounded up seven of the best Jaipur viewpoints and sunset spots that offer breathtaking vistas and a perfect way to end your day in Rajasthan.
# Amer Fort
No list of Jaipur viewpoints is complete without the Amer Fort. Once a formidable defense for the Meena rulers and Rajput royals, Amer Fort is now a top attraction in Jaipur. Its massive ramparts, enchanting gateways, elegant arches, and stunning courtyards make it a visual treat.
But here’s a bonus: Amer Fort also offers some of the best sunset views in Jaipur. A rickshaw ride from Jaipur takes roughly 20–25 minutes (₹200–250). Head to one of the fort’s towers or villas for an unforgettable sunset experience.
# Jaipur Wall (Amer Wall)
Right across from Amer Fort lies the Jaipur Wall, also known as the Amer Wall. This photogenic sandstone wall snakes along the Aravalli Hills and once served as a defensive barrier against invaders.
Today, it’s a favorite sunset spot for locals and travelers alike. Climb the wall before sunset or sunrise to enjoy sweeping views of the Thar Desert from its lookout towers.
# Nahargarh Fort
Perched atop the hills overlooking Jaipur, Nahargarh Fort is another iconic fortification with incredible views. Unlike Amer Fort, you can walk up its steps for free to reach some stunning viewpoints.
Although exploring the fort’s interior requires an entry fee, the fort walls and terraces provide unmatched panoramic views of Jaipur, making it one of the city’s best sunset spots.
# Jal Mahal
The Jal Mahal, or “Water Palace,” is a must-see Jaipur attraction. While boat tours are available, it’s just as magical from the banks of Man Sagar Lake, where the palace sits gracefully on an island.
Located just 4 km north of City Palace on Amer Road, the Jal Mahal framed against the Aravalli hills makes for a perfect sunset photo spot.
# Surya Mandir
The Sun Temple (Surya Mandir) lives up to its name as one of Jaipur’s top sunset viewpoints. Nestled within the Galta Ji temple complex, the temple sits atop a 200-meter hill, offering a unique vantage point over Jaipur’s skyline.
This lesser-known spot is ideal if you want a serene sunset experience away from the usual tourist crowds.
# Panna Meena Ka Kund (Jaipur Stepwell)
While it may not offer sweeping city views like the others, Panna Meena Ka Kund, Jaipur’s iconic stepwell, is a fascinating spot. Located in Amer, it’s photogenic and architecturally stunning, making it a unique place to catch the golden glow of sunset.
# Bonus: Jaipur Hot Air Balloon Ride
For the ultimate sunset experience, nothing beats a hot air balloon ride over Jaipur. Floating above the Pink City and the surrounding desert landscape gives you breathtaking aerial views that you won’t forget. Sunrise or sunset rides are highly recommended for the most magical scenery.
