The CPI (Maoist) Naxalite organization has called for a protest week from October 8 to 14 and a one-day bandh on October 15. During this time, Naxalite squads may try to create disturbance. In view of this, Jharkhand Police has made strict security arrangements in the entire state.

Jharkhand Police IG (Operations) Michael Raj said that the activities of Maoists are being closely monitored. Security forces have been put on alert in all the districts. Additional police forces have been deployed at sensitive places, government establishments, rail and road routes, so that life remains normal.

The IG said that apart from Jharkhand, the impact of the proposed protest week and bandh can also be seen in neighboring states like Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Assam. He said that especially keeping in mind the bandh on October 15, the information system has been further activated.

The police spokesperson has appealed to the general public not to pay heed to any kind of rumor and carry out daily activities fearlessly.

CPI Maoists’ Eastern Regional Bureau spokesperson Sanket had issued a press release announcing a bandh in Bihar, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Assam on October 15.

The press release said that on September 15, Central Committee and IRB member Comrade Sahdev Soren alias Anuj, Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee member Comrade Raghunath Hembram alias Chanchal and Zonal Committee member Comrade Ramkhelavan Ganju alias Veersen were killed in an encounter by Cobra and Jharkhand Police.

In protest against this, a protest week and bandh has been announced. Earlier, the Naxalite organization had issued a press note and offered peace talks to the Central Government, but Union Home Minister Amit Shah clearly refused any talks.

Shah had appealed to the Naxalites to lay down their arms. The government will welcome them into the mainstream, but before that no talks can be held with them.
