The Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry was seen walking out of the field limping, adding tensions to the guest's camp. India is currently hosting Australia for a three-match ODI series, the first two in Chandigarh with the final one in Delhi. In the first ODI, despite Perry's untimed departure, India was crushed heavily.

 

In the post-match presentation, the Australian captain, Alyssa Healy, in her known wit, provided an update on her teammate. According to Healy, Perry is "just old," but she is fine. 

 

Perry just caught some cramps while batting. And the Australia unit did not want to risk it further. Healy clarified that Perry had some cramps, and she got treatment. That the Australian team did not want to risk much, she was carried out. Heally said,

 

“She is just old, she is fine. We want to push the limits when batting first and no different while chasing. We have the same intent as we are setting a big total. Phoebe was outstanding and everyone contributed beautifully and kept the scoring rate up."

Despite Ellyse Perry retiring hurt on 30, Australia cruised to a dominant 8-wicket win over India, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing 282, Phoebe Litchfield smashed 88 off 80 balls with 14 boundaries, making the most of two dropped chances to set up the chase. 

 

Beth Mooney (77* off 74) and Annabel Sutherland (54* off 51) shared an unbeaten 116-run stand for the third wicket, guiding Australia home with 5.5 overs to spare. 

 

Earlier, India posted 281/7, riding on Pratika Rawal’s 64, Smriti Mandhana’s 58, and Harleen Deol’s 54. Despite good starts, India faltered in the middle overs, losing wickets at regular intervals.

 

Australia’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Megan Schutt (2/45) leading the pack. India’s spinners failed to capitalize on the chances, with Mooney and Litchfield dropped at crucial moments.
