Guru Dutt's Cinematic Masterpieces Back on Screen

Two legendary films by the late director Guru Dutt, Pyaasa and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, are currently being showcased in a newly restored 4K format at PVR theatres throughout India, following their re-release two weeks ago.

After the successful re-launch of several 4K-restored classics including Baaz, Pyaasa, Mr. & Mrs. 55, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Aar Paar, and Chaudhvin Ka Chand, Ultra Media & Entertainment has decided to extend the screening of these iconic films due to popular demand.

Both titles, restored in 4K by NFDC-NFAI, received an outstanding response during their centenary showcase, highlighting the enduring significance of Guru Dutt's work and the golden age of Indian cinema.

Pyaasa is celebrated as one of the finest films in Indian cinema, offering a poetic exploration of love, art, and disillusionment in the context of post-Independence India. Guru Dutt was the writer, director, and producer of this masterpiece.

Alongside Guru Dutt, the film features notable performances by Mala Sinha and Waheeda Rehman in pivotal roles.

Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, on the other hand, is acclaimed for its unforgettable performances, particularly by Meena Kumari, and delves into themes of decline, loneliness, and yearning.
