In a controversial incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, members of a right-wing Hindu group allegedly forced a KFC outlet to shut down, protesting against the sale of meat during the holy month of Sawan and the ongoing Kanwar Yatra.
The incident took place on Thursday in the Vasundhara area, which falls under the Indirapuram police station limits. A video showing the group in action surfaced on social media on Friday and quickly gained attention.
In the video, members of the group can be seen shouting slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Shri Ram’ while confronting the KFC staff and forcing the shutters of the outlet to be pulled down.
Although there is no official ban on the sale of non-vegetarian food in the region during Sawan, the group allegedly took matters into their own hands and halted the outlet’s operations.
He further added, “Taking cognisance of the said incident, a case has already been registered at the Indirapuram police station. All these individuals are being identified, and further action will be taken based on facts.”
Police are continuing their investigation to identify those involved.
