Digital management on the rise

As digital transformation accelerates worldwide, management and digital innovation are gaining ground as high-potential fields, both in Vietnam and internationally.

The career also offers attractive salaries. According to SalaryExpert, a chief digital officer (CDO) in Vietnam earns an average US$55,000 per year. Average CDO salaries can reach $203,000 in the U.S., $150,000 in the U.K., $110,000 to $220,000 in Singapore, and $100,000 to $170,000 in Australia.

According to the Future of Jobs 2025 report by the World Economic Forum (WEF), 60% of employers believe digital technologies will be the main driving force of organizational growth, surpassing any other HR trend.

In Vietnam, the National Digital Transformation Program (approved in 2020) set out dual goals: to develop digital government, economy, and society and to build globally competitive Vietnamese tech enterprises.

Since then, the country has made significant progress, sparking a strong wave of digital transformation across the business community. Vietnam’s digital economy is projected to reach $49 billion by 2025.

This shift has fueled soaring demand for digitally savvy professionals who can bridge the gap between business and technology.

These experts are equipped to harness the power of digital tools, understand market dynamics, restructure operations, and anticipate customer behavior in a fast-changing environment.

However, McKinsey warns that fewer than 50% of the current workforce meet the required level of digital expertise, revealing a growing global skills gap.

Training aligned with market shifts

Management and Digital Innovation is a flagship program at the British University Vietnam (BUV). It is awarded by the University of London and academically directed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

BUV is the only university in Vietnam offering programmes under the academic direction of LSE—currently ranked 4th in the U.K. by The Guardian 2024.

Thanks to this partnership, students gain cutting-edge knowledge that blends business management with modern digital technologies.

The curriculum follows a clear progression from foundational to advanced levels. Students begin with core modules such as information systems, digital infrastructure, finance, and economics. Later years focus on digital innovation, applied statistics, and data-driven decision-making in strategic business contexts.

Graduates with an internationally recognized degree from the University of London are well-positioned to work in developed economies and take on specialist or leadership roles, from chief digital officers and digital managers to business analysts, IT project managers, or digital marketing specialists. These are roles in high demand, often with competitive compensation.

The talent demand continues to rise as the digital economy expands. Across fintech, healthtech, edtech, e-commerce, and smart city development, industries are in urgent need of professionals who can integrate technology with strategy. This opens up strong career prospects for graduates of BUV’s Management and Digital Innovation program.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to join short-term or postgraduate courses at BUV’s 69 partner universities in 16 developed countries, including several members of the Russell Group, the U.K.’s elite network of research-led universities known for academic excellence and global impact.

According to Mark Harris, Head of the School of Business at British University Vietnam, what sets the program apart is its real-world relevance and alignment with industry needs.

“Our graduates are equipped to operate effectively in digital environments, from data analysis and innovation to adapting quickly to change. Through practice-based modules like entrepreneurship, data analytics, and digital transformation, students sharpen critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the agility needed to thrive in the digital business landscape,” Mark said.
