Odisha Flood: Flood havoc was seen in Balasore district of Odisha on Tuesday, July 1. Let us tell you that, there is news of waterlogging on roads and fields in about 100 villages in the northern part of the district. Due to this water, people’s lives have been disrupted.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari says that the water level of all the major rivers in northern Odisha is decreasing significantly, but there are many villages which are still victims of this flood. Due to this, relief and rescue work is being carried out rapidly by the administration in Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Jajpur districts.


People in these districts are affected…


According to sources, due to heavy rainfall in Balasore district and also due to water released from Jharkhand, the Subarnarekha river has flooded. Due to which people of Bhograi, Baliapal, Jaleshwar and Basta blocks have been affected. Let us tell you that due to the rising water level of three rivers- Subarnarekha, Budhabalang and Jalaka, many villages of Balasore have been flooded.


Local people are severely affected…


Locals have been severely affected due to the rise in water level of the Subarnarekha and Budhabalang rivers in Mayurbhanj district. Similarly, the situation has worsened in some areas of Jajpur district due to the flooding of the Baitarani river. An official of the Water Resources Department informed that the water level of the Subarnarekha and Jalaka rivers is gradually decreasing, yet it still remains around the danger mark in Rajghat and Mathani areas.


2,916 people were made safe…


Let us tell you that the collector of Balasore visited Basta, Jaleswar, Baliapal as well as Bhograi blocks and took stock of the flood situation. According to sources, so far 46 panchayats in seven blocks have been affected, and 2,916 people have been evacuated to safer places. Let us tell you that so far 17 relief camps have been arranged for the people.  


According to a report, the water level of the Baitarani river in Jajpur district has crossed the danger level. Due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal, there is continuous heavy rainfall, due to which the water level of the river has increased rapidly. Due to this, many panchayats of Dashrathpur, Korei, Binjharpur and Jajpur blocks of the district are likely to be severely affected by floods. Jajpur District Collector P. Anvesha Reddy said that all the concerned officials have been alerted and they are constantly monitoring the situation.
