Importance of Sawan


The month of Sawan is considered to be very dear to Lord Shiva. During this period, he is worshipped with rituals. It is believed that from Sawan to Kartik, Mahadev himself controls the universe. During this time, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshipped with devotion. Along with this, Sawan Monday fast can also be observed, which showers the blessings of Shiva on the devotee.


 


When is Saavan starting?


The month of Sawan will start from 11th July and will continue till 9th ​​August. This month has special significance in Hinduism. According to the scriptures, Lord Shiva is pleased with special worship in Sawan. During this period, a fast is observed on Mondays, in which Gangajal, milk, Belpatra and Dhatura are offered on the Shivling. It is believed that this pleases Lord Shiva and he fulfills all the wishes of the devotee.

This year, there are four Mondays in Sawan. The first Monday fast will be on July 14, while the second will be on July 21, the third on July 28 and the fourth on August 4.


 


Puja Vidhi


In the month of Sawan, wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes. Then install the idol of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati or Shivling. After this, do their Jalabhishek. Belpatra, sandalwood, flowers, Akshat, incense, lamp, fruits, sweets, and Panchamrit are offered on the Shivling. Also, Om Namah Shivaya mantra is chanted. Finally, read Shiv Chalisa and do the Aarti of Shivling.
