The Indian team management might take an ultimate gamble for the second Test against England. The visitors lost the first match by 5 wickets, and the bowlers along with the lower-order came under scrutiny for that. The problem has now increased several times now as star pacer Jasprit Bumrah might be rested from the upcoming clash.
Sources have now revealed that there might be as much as four changes in the team from the one which was used in the first Test in Leeds. Even though assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate dropped the hint of going with two spinners, it has now come to light that this might not be the plan.
Akash Deep is going to play in place of Jasprit Bumrah.
The second change can be spin-bowling allrounder Washington Sundar coming in place of Shardul Thakur.
The third change ac be either Sai Sudharshan or Karun Nair giving their place to Nitish Kumar Reddy.
If going by this combination- Indian team will have six players as potential bowlers i.e. Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prasidh Krishna, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
Ahead of the second Test, captain Shubman Gill had stated that even though Jasprit Bumrah is available to play, the team management will not make a call till the last minute and will only decide after looking at the wicket.
The second Test of the series is going to begin Wednesday July 2nd at Birmingham. As of now, despite scoring five centuries in the first match, India is trailing 1-0 in the series.
India’s squad for the Test series:
Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC/Wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Kl Rahul, Sai Sudarshan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nightish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jadeington, Dhruv Jadeington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
