Mumbai: In Mumbai, hooliganism of Raj Thackeray’s party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers has again come to light. In Meera Road, a fast food vendor was beaten badly for not speaking Marathi, slapping him several. MNS workers assaulted and abused employees at Balaji Hotel on Meera Road. This is Monday night’s incident. The video of this incident is also going viral on social media.
It is being told that the viral video is from Meera Road area of Mumbai. Here Marathi was beaten fiercely by Marathi to speak a fast food Vikrata. According to the information received, the shopkeeper was Gujarati, from which he did not know Marathi language Belni. MNS workers cut a ruckus about this.
The viral video shows that 3 to 4 MNS workers visit a fast food shop and start arguing with a person standing there about Marathi language. A worker asks him which language is spoken in Maharashtra. The person replies that all languages are spoken. After this, the workers get angry. As soon as the person’s answer comes, the workers standing there start slapping him.
It is alleged that MNS officials asked shopkeeper Babulal Khimji Chaudhary to talk to Marathi and said that a proposal has been passed to speak Marathi in the state’s house and keep Marathi staff in the shop. When Chaudhary asked when the proposal was passed, he told that the resolution had been passed two days ago.
Chaudhary, while expressing his ignorance, said that here all languages are talked about. Angered by this, people wearing MNS strap around the neck beat him up and abused him, threatening to burn the shop.
In this case, an FIR has been registered against 7 unidentified MNS officials on Tuesday at the Kashimira police station on the complaint of shopkeeper Babulal Khimji Chaudhary.
Although local traders organizations say that the imperative of Marathi language is correct, it is wrong to resort to violence. Also said that traders will soon agitate in such protests.
However, this is not the first time that such a case has come up. There have been dozens of cases in Maharashtra in the last few months in which MNS workers have beaten people for not speaking Marathi. MNS workers have assaulted with bank officials to security guards.
The reaction of Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) on the case of hooliganism of MNS workers in Mumbai has also come to light. Party MLA Sachin Ahir has said that it is not right to quarrel on the Marathi issue. But if someone deliberately refuses to speak Marathi using the language, then it is also wrong. Sharad Pawar’s NCP has also denied Raj Thackeray’s party’s objection.
Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam in the Maharashtra government said that every language should be respected in Maharashtra. He said that no one takes the law in his hand. If something goes wrong, legal action will be taken.
