Two House Surgeons were penalized on Monday for allegedly ragging to some Junior Doctors in Odisha’s MKCG Medical College & Hospital.

The decision came following the Anti-Ragging Committee probed on the matter, based on the complaints of a 4th year MBBS student.

According to sources, the medical college authorities initiated the disciplinary action against the house surgeons for their involvement in a ragging incident that occurred on May 12.

Acting on the report of the Anti-ragging Committee, the two two senior doctors were penalized with Rs 25,000 fine each, along with a warning letter.

Further monitoring and sensitisation measures are undertaken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, said MKCG Superintendent, Professor Suchitra Das.
