Miss Asia 1990 second runner-up Strawberry Yeung has expressed deep concern over the shrinking opportunities for local actors in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry.

Reflecting on her early career, Yeung recalled filming multiple projects in a single day and working with Hong Kong filmmaker Stephen Chow on three films while still a supporting actress, according to Dimsum Daily.
“But now, the industry is in decline,” she said. “With fewer television dramas and selective film productions, Hong Kong’s small market and changing viewer preferences mean jobs are hard to come by.”
Addressing rumors about actors facing financial struggles and taking on side jobs such as selling chicken feet, driving taxis, or working as security guards, Yeung remarked: “Is that surprising?”
“As long as it’s honest work and not theft or robbery, I respect it,” she added. “When you have a family to support, you must do what it takes.”
Now 60, Yeung began her acting career in 1985, with notable roles in films like “God of Gamblers,” “Kickboxer,” and “A Moment of Romance.”
In recent years, she has shifted focus to business ventures and personal development, earning a diploma in nutrition and weight management in 2021.
