According to authorities, a 40-year-old man who tested positive for COVID-19 passed away on Wednesday at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Chandigarh.
This was Chandigarh’s first recorded case at a medical institution.
Hospital officials have not yet verified if the patient had the most recent JN.1 variant, however.
After testing positive for COVID-19, the patient, who was originally from Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, was sent to the GMCH in Ludhiana.
The patient was isolated in the Covid area with two ventilators set up, according to GMCH Director Dr. Ashok Atri, who also said that the patient’s data had been submitted in the proper manner the day before.
He went on to say that there is now no reason for concern.
Two days ago, a 51-year-old lady from Yamunanagar, Haryana, tested positive for COVID-19 at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, which is close to here. This was Punjab’s first instance of the virus.
There are four current coronavirus infections in Haryana, according to state Health Minister Arti Singh Rao last week. Two of these instances are in the national capital area of Gurugram and Faridabad.
There is no travel history among the sick.
According to the minister’s statement, all four patients—two men and two women—were placed under home quarantine due to a minor type of illness.
“All patients are regularly monitored by doctors, and hospitalization has not been necessary. Each of the four had received a vaccination. The ministry added in a statement on May 23 that an individual from the Gurugram area who had previously been found to have the virus had already recovered.
According to her, the Health Department is keeping an eye on the issue and taking the required actions to guarantee public safety and readiness in light of the recent reports of coronavirus infections in different regions of the nation.
